i'm addicted to the local Guilin Noodle shop across the street. my favorite is the bowl of stir-fried beef noodle without the soup. they put lettuce and peanuts and this ultra marinated string bean. and i always add this extra spicy satay paste and this fermented spicy garlic sauce. they are famous for their noodle soup but i really prefer the strong, spicy, salty taste of the stir-fried version. i'm even ok with paying 3 extra yuan! for a total of 12 yuan, i always walk away happy and hot! they don't believe in turning on the a/c so i'm sitting there eating spicy food in a hot little hole in the wall in the afternoon. and they don't provide napkins either. welcome to china.
